Just heard from a friend who's travelling on the Borders steam excursion today. Apparently there are signalling problems and the special is stuck somewhere in the Borders. Don't have any more details but sounds like that would bring the line to a standstill. Must be long term because my friend says they are trying to organise coaches.

Anyone know any more about this?

Just go to the NRE (Travel News) Website for info. That's what I've just done and there's info there..

That sounds strange as realtimetrains has reported it more or less on time both directions although services due at Tweedbank at the same time as the steam trip were cancelled.

Steam train was never cancelled, nor the passengers bussed. There were signalling problems on the borders line between Portabello Jct and Newcraighall. Busses were organised for some standard train passengers but the problem was sorted before 1430, to enable the standard service to depart around 1430 before the steam special departed at 1438. The problem started after the inbound steam special arrived at Tweedbank
