Priv Season Ticket advice please

Hi, can anyone advise if this is possible please.

I need a season ticket between Waddon and Clapham Junction however the staff at Waddon ticket office has said that I can get off the train at West Croydon if I wanted to and also use it to travel between Clapham Junction and East Croydon.

The staff at East Croydon have said that a Waddon to Clapham Junction season ticket is the same price as the one from Croydon stations however it is down to the discretion of the gate line staff if they let it through the barrier
I only need the East Croydon access if I'm starting v early or finishing v late

Any thoughts please

The fact of it being a priv season is completely irrelevant here as the stations at which the ticket would be valid are unaffected by the discount. A ticket from Waddon to Clapham Junction would be valid to start, finish or break and resume the journey at any station en route. West Croydon is undoubtedly en route and it would seem very strange if the ticket were not accepted also at East Croydon in order to allow the rest of the journey to be made by other means, even if East Croydon is strictly off route.
