Is there a priv discount for the Rheilffordd Ffestiniog Railway and The Cambrian?
Also is there a discount for the ferry to Ireland or The Isle of Mann?

Cheers
(I know it's a dig up, but this is what I made the thread for)

Got a job yet? ;)

I don't see why there would be a discount for the ferry, I thought it was only discounted rail travel.

The Y-P railcard offers discounts on sailings to the IoW (and potentially some more services), so I'd have thought the PRIV would also cover this?

I have a ticket that sounds like what your talking about... You do really have to be careful where you use it though. I travelled Heathrow Express to Heathrow, and the train manager knew that it was my first time on the Heathrow express, and didn't charge me. Otherwise - I would have been in trouble as I had no money to buy a ticket!!

As far as I know, you can use them on most morning services as well cant you?? Like limited ticket services etc?

Well, they're not valid on Heathrow Express at all, but are on Connect.

You can use privs on any service of any TOC excluding HEX and GC.
But there are some specific services that are barred due to overcrowding.

It's on the ATOC website. Go to Rail Staff Travel or something and it's the document about restricted services.

Sorry, don't have the time to look it up now.

Pacers to Okehampton, the track down there is bolted, let the thrash commence (required line aswell) You do realise if we do this rare rat thats working on the P&DSR that day we are going to Exmouth later ;)

 You must be joking man! I saw the said person at East Croydon on the Buffer Puffer 6.0, then again isn't that within the travelcard zone?

Quit hating just because you don't have a priv - you know you'd be asking the same questions (and laughing at everyone else) if you did have one.

Cheers for that Ramel :)

I am actually looking for a job. But there's seriously none in Buxton at all.

I've explained my reasons for "hating" many times to Gizmogle, I don't see why you need to get involved.

Besides, the ";)" suggested it shouldn't of been taken very seriously. Obviously that has gone over your head.

And I can quite frankly say, I'd be asking in private such as a PM or MSN and who is laughing?

You're beginning to sound like a stuck record, telling her to get a job, whether you mean it in jest or not.

You should come off your high horse about earning money to buy valid tickets, unless you were also joking when you told me you still buy child tickets a couple of weeks back?

Just found out from my dad today that Grand Central have announced that Priv passes are not allowed to be used on any of their services... I was under the impression that they were? Anyone have any idea??

That's pretty much it. GC don't accept privs.
I'm not sure about priv discounted tickets though. I imagine they'll accept the standard priv tickets from Sunderland/York to London or whatever.

You can't use boxes.

You can use PRIV discounted tickets, e.g. London to Sunderland is approx £26 each way. York to Sunderland is approx £12 return.

Much better value us a North East rover, which works out at approx £17 - with prices as cheap as that PRIV holders can't really complain!!!

Wow, you're very keen for a £3 discount!!! ;) It's only £15 for the full fare on GC from York to Sunderland.

Sadly, GC probably don't see much of the £12 PRIV fare as it will be split with NXEC, Northern, Virgin and TPE :(

GC are daft for not having a £9-10 fare for holders of PRIVs and Railcards, these people are literally handing cash to GC's rivals in order to travel on GC (Railcard holders can do it for £9 on 'any TOC' tickets). I see no sense in that from GCs point of view!

Another question to all you priv pass holders.

Has anybody who had 1st class passes moved railway companies (by choice rather than TUPE transfer ) and subsequently had your facilities downgraded to standard class because the qualifying grade level moved up in the years between you getting them originally issued and joining the new company.
Or did you retain them even though the qualifying level is now above your grade.

What are the definitive rules on this situation?
