Hello all!

Just received my Box Card... I've heard that you can use it for 75% discount on National Rail and LUL for leisure travel only.

My question is this:

To get the Rail Staff Discount uploaded onto my Oyster Card, Do I need to show the Ticket Office staff my photographic security pass? Or will a payslip do?

If its the security pass route then I'm out of luck because I still haven't got that yet!

Thanks in advance!

You don't say if you are Safeguarded on Non-Safeguarded.

If you are safeguarded then you just need to show your boxes & photocard to get the Priv Oyster along with a this form http://www.atoc.org/clientfiles/File/RSTDocuments/NewForms2011/5001_010411_Priv_Oyster_Active.pdf.

If you are Non-Safeguarded then you don't qualify for a Priv Oyster & your boxes are only for the TOC's run by your parent company & you have to use the Red & White Priv Discount ticket to get the 75% off.

Hope this helps.

It is all down to your industry start date.

If you started on the railway prior to April 1996 you are Safeguarded, if you started after this then you are Non-Safeguarded.

If you started in May 2011 then you will not get discount on LUL. Unless you work for FCC or London Overground.

Eurostar is different and you do get the discount on
LU. Although this is nothing to do with the discount LU staff get on Eurostar, which is pretty poor.

AFAIK Eurostar staff do not get any 75% boxes or any discount anywhere else (unless they started years ago). You get a special rate oyster and that is about it.

I suppose an FIP Card could be granted after 12 months that MAY some discount, but I'm not even sure you get that as Eurostar is not an "administration".

What does it say on your "boxes".

According to Eurostar themselves you get:

Free Eurostar tickets, 50% off European rail travel plus 75% off London Underground Travel ONLY.

Turns out I do get a PRIV rate oyster card. Got a form to fill out then hand it to the ticket office and boom! Discount!
Thanks for the help :)

Just been told that I have to take the box card to a NR ticket office with a passport photo, ill then be given a railstaff ID card which gives me 75% discount on NR.
Then I have to fill out a PRIV form for oyster - get it signed by a SPM and take it and the box card with the ID card to a LU ticket office to get the 75% discount on LU.

Good stuff!
