priv all line rover

can a 1st class privilege all line rover be bought by any railway staff or do they have to have a pass showing that they can buy 1st class tickets

:( need 1st Class TOCNE Priv card or STC to be able to purchase any 1st Class Priv tickets.

if i bought a priv std class all line rover,would the be a way of paying an excess if i wanted to go 1st class on a couple of trains or would it be full fare only

I'm not sure about the full fare only bit. With a Rover can you not just upgrade from STD to 1ST? I couldn't see it being a problem - but in this case it would be quite expensive, as it would be the difference between the PRIV rate SDS and the full undiscounted FDS.

I mean only the full fare 1st class ticket is available.

The rover must be taken as the highest priced standard single, (SDS/SOS) and can be upgraded to a first class ticket that is available for that train/time, (so FOS/FDS/FSR) etc...

If you hold a 'standard class' priv, only standard class priv-rate tickets are available- otherwise you become liable to pay an excess fare up to the full public first class price.

However, I'm not sure on what the exact procedure should be if you had a standard class priv, but somehow managed to buy a first class ALR.... I think technically it should be an excess to the full public fare.

Surprisingly any job is eligible for a TOCNE 1st Class PRIV, (assuming you are employed directly by a TOC). (box privs are reserved for those managers employed pre-1996).

Some TOCs award first class TOC cards as rewards, some base it on a promotion to a higher role, (typically a Station Manager and above). Remember, it only entitles you to get quarter rate first class tickets - and no free travel. The 'Gold' and 'Silver' unlimited travel passes are reserved for those company Directors, and each TOC only has a limited number permitted to be issued.

It is a mistaken belief that the TOCNE staff travel facilities are based on grade. It is dependant on what your employer wants to give you.

It may be worth ringing your staff travel contact in your HR Dept and asking them what the eligibility criteria is for your company.
