I'm sure a 12-car EMU will fit fine, given that it can take a 91 & Mk4 set.

As for the work around the buffers, it has something to do with work going on underneath.

Is platform 0 12-car platform?

As an aside, does anyone know if the work at Kings Cross involves 'filling in the large space behind the buffers of platforms 1-6' like as has happened with 7 & 8? I assume it will happen at some stage, because it would create some more precious space. I also assume that platforms 7 & 8 were filled in behind the buffers early on because it gave more space on that corner. Am I correct?

The buffers will be moved back permanently at the ends of current platforms 5-8, by around 12/13 m, to allow the circulation space to be doubled, as the main entrance flow is going to be from that side of the station. Platforms 1-4 remain as they are now, but P4 will be accessible from the enlarged area as well.

Scaling off the Camden planning documents the finished length of the platforms in the main shed is approximately:

0 320 m
1 335 m
2 290 m
3 290 m
4 290 m
5 275 m
6 290 m
7 290 m
8 260 m

Those distances don't allow for any signalling issues at the country end, but are from the position of the buffers shown on the drawings .

I admit, MASSIVE typo
No problem :)

Although I still think typing the wrong thing isn't actually included in the definition of 'typo' (and neither are spelling mistakes). A typo is where you use the correct word, you know how to spell it, you just accidentally hit the wrong key.

Typing the wrong word because you are thinking of something else is not uncommon. Also you could be thinking of wording it differently (e.g. 'electrics only', change your mind e.g. 'diesels banned', but keep one of the original words).

We've all done it at some point! :)
