Hi, at the end of the month I will be flying into Prestwick from Warsaw,a flight eligible for the free ticket to any Scotrail station. Does anybody know where you have to go in the airport to get the ticket as the station doesn't have a ticket office? (well it didn't when I was there in 2007).
What type of ticket will be given,eg open single? If I get the ticket to Lanark, would I be able to stop off for a few pints in Paisley and Rutherglen which are on the way or does it have more restrictive conditions as it's free? Either way, it sounds good to me!!
Thanks.

You need to get your ticket on the train as there's no ticket office or machine at the airport's station. Not sure about the conditions though, sorry!

From the Manual:
The Manual said:
Free Ticket Scheme

Passengers travelling on newly opened routes are entitled to free travel, within Scotland, for the first six months of operation of the route on ScotRail services only. Passengers presenting valid documentation (as for the 50% discount scheme) are issued with a voucher for travel.

The only route currently qualifying for free travel is Malta (until 13th October 2011)
The section about the Malta route I imagine is old information, however I cannot see any details regarding what type of ticket is issued.

Thanks for the tips. When I travel I shall post exactly what happens for anybody in the future. As for break of journey, there isn't anything which says I can't on either the airport or the Scotrail sites.
