Prestwick Airport Discount

I need to go from Edinburgh to Prestwick Airport at about 7 AM on 12 May, then come back on 13 May about midday. The National Rail website shows a fare of £18.40 for an anytime return with my 16-25 railcard, or £27.90 without.
However, I know you can get a 50% discount if you show your flight booking when you buy the ticket. Can that 50% only be taken from the full price, or would I be able to buy a ticket for 50% of the railcard price? Thanks!

Yes, it's only available on the full price. Edinburgh to Prestwick Airport with discount is £13.95 for Anytime return or £11.65 for an Off-peak return if you're travelling after 09.15. If the member of staff is having trouble, the ticket needs to be issued to Prestwick ATrain (H234).

I've found 'Prestwick ATrain' on some ScotRail TVMs, although I have a hunch it's now been removed.
