Quick 1-looking for splits for this journey preferably 1st anytime or off-peak tickets-FOR without splits is coming out with extortionate pricing-thanks in advance fos any suggestions.

Leeds-Preston is reasonably priced via Burnley (direct trains provided by Northern)

Off Peak Day Rtn (CDR) £17.20
Anytime Day Return (SDR) £17.80
Anytime Return (SOR) £19.30

First class is available for people who are happy to subsidise the rest of us (and I'm happy for the upper classes to subsidise us in this way ;)), priced at £61.80 FOR, aimed at travel via Manchester. However if you travel at a weekend then the £25.20 Off Peak Return (SVR) will do, with supplements (£6 each way).

I strongly suspect that this isn't actually allowed (yorkie can clarify this), but it's cheaper to buy Leeds to Preston than it is Preston to Leeds...

Obviously this wouldn't work on a journey over multiple days though.

True you are not allowed to use the OUT after the RTN.

However in this case tickets routed via Burnley (as quoted by Yorkie) appear to be the same price in both directions with route any permitted tickets being different prices.

It's cause I'm travelling on business with work to do on peak trains on the return at least so looking for 1st options-was thinking there could be splits for cheaper 1st tickets-mainly to get a seat and table!

I'm not upper class so wont be going for the FOR option and like u happy for that to subsidise other tickets-guess u can't always have your cake and eat it then : -)
