These passes are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue. You will also be entitled to 10% discount in our Buffer stop gift shop in Minehead.

I am a foreigner so not suitable for me, but I hope many who read Rail UK forums will purchase a pass: a great way of supporting this wonderful line between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. It's a most enjoyable railway on which to travel.

How many other preserved lines offer such annual passes and how much does each charge for an adult yearly?

Bluebell railway offers life membership @£900, which gives (almost) unlimited First Class travel.
It did trial an annual pass some years ago, but it has been discontinued.

There is a poorly advertised "friends of the HRA" privilege card which allows free or reduced price entry to most of the HRAs members for £141 a year. I can't link to it because the details are hidden in the members only section of their website.

Also worth considering buying shares in the WSR https://www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/shareholders . 1000 shares will cost you £100 and gives you 2 free days travel per annum on any non-gala day, not just this year but on-going (but obviously, shareholders benefits are not guaranteed to continue the same in the future).

Swanage Railway has two offers:
1) an annual pass for £99
2) a discount card for £15 which gives 1/3rd off.
Ts and Cs apply.

Given the return fare Swanage <> Norden is £18 it takes 6 round trips to pay for the annual pass to pay for its, 3 round trips for the discount pass to pay for itself.

If you are happy to visit the same line numerous times a year then its cost effective, much rather they'd do what the narrow gauges in Wales do and offer more than one line as part of a package.

I became a life member of the supporting society of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway back in 2001 for £100 - two free trips every year, but now it seems to be unlimited trips at half price. Pretty good value!
