I applied for a grade 2 in cornwall a few months back and got to the interview stage but sadly missed out. I just applied for a grade 4 and its automatically added the previous assessment i did to this application and now it says under consideration. Just hoping if i get an interview it goes okay this time :/
Good luck mate, fingers crossed your previous experience of the interview will help

Hello everyone. It's my first time posting here. I'm waiting for a date for my medical for a trainee train driver position.I must say even though I'm happy that I came this far, it's not a pleasant feeling not knowing anything.

Hi Chris,

Do you mind me asking what sort of thing you were asked and how long the interview took? I understand the general gist of the questions are to do with the 8 Network Rail non-technical skills, is this correct? Many thanks for any further light you can shed on the interview but I understand if you don't want to elaborate.
Good luck for your application and I'm sure you'll get another interview going forward. I think patience and persistence-in-applying appear to be the way to go

Same here. I got the offer in October and don't start until September! I'm still over the moon about the job, but it's such a long wait - I just want to get started. I think the medical for me is done around 3 months before the start date.

Which TOC is your role for if you don't mind me asking?

It's with Southeastern. They haven't given me a start date yet. I might be in for a long wait. What TOC are you with?

I'm with Crossrail. It's interesting how different TOCs operate - hopefully you hear back soon and don't have too long a wait :D

Finally got confirmation that my pre employment checks are done today! Was asked when I could start and basically asked for tomorrow just waiting for a confirmed signalling school date! Hoping for April 3rd as I know a few people on the forum are also starting this date!

Good news. Congratulations!
What vacancy did you apply for?
It was originally Crag Hall in Middlesbrough but there was a few of us successful so I have been given a non advertised job at Norton West, happens to be one I had applied for quite a while ago! Very happy!

Very much looking forward to it! My dad and brother are both signallers so know how much hard work it takes! My bother joined 5 years ago so it’s still fresh in his head, my dad is touching 30+ years service so he doesn’t know what I am to expect

I’m at “test complete” for West Hampstead and had letter saying I’ve passed the tests to the required benchmark, so just waiting now.....

Could be a long wait as I’ve got an application for TBROC at “application under Consideration” and has been that since 11 December (which I have wrote off basically in my head!!)

Long wait for most positions it seems within the railway!!!!

Yes, my TBROC application has been 'Under Consideration' since November and those vacancies have been filled. It's such a long process where weeks turn into months of waiting without updates.

Have they been filled?? How you know that??? I presumed they had and also presumed that it was just a matter of time before I had the unsuccessful letter emailed to me!!

I'm still at 'Test completed' stage for the Arundel position, has anyone's application progressed beyond this for this post?

No KMCM. Same boat as you mate. I called NR HR late last week to ask them about next steps and they said about four weeks from external closing before we should expect to see any further progress. That would be next Tuesday/Wednesday.

I asked him how many had applied and his answer was "more than one and less than five hundred". Helpful chap....

I emailed today and got an instant reply stating that all they can say is that the application is still live and they cannot commit to time frames for applications. My application for the TBROC that I applied for in November is still under consideration and I was told by NR HR that I should hear within 8 weeks of applying. Nothing seems to happen quickly as many of us are experiencing! Best of luck though mate with your applications!

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked before. In an attempt to change/start a proper career, I spied a vacancy due to shut in 2 days at Stirling for a Operative position, working on the track. I passed my application & hit the bench mark for the tests but unfortunately did not get through to what I assume would be an interview?

Anyway, for anyone working with NR could I get some information from you guys? Would the next stage have been an interview? I have seen online that some positions require you to go to an assessment centre to do other tests but I've not read anything really like that about the Operative position.

Do NR do a mass intake once a year or do positions like the one I'm enquiring about come and go through out the 12 months?

What did your interview contain/focus on primarily, I've read for working on the track it's primarily team work, safety and the safety of others?

I got in touch with HR as to why I never got put through and they suggested my CV to detail more experiences and skills in relation to the job description which I will be doing for the future!

Thanks again for any help and insight you guys can give me,

Conor.

I’ve just been advised today that I’ve been unsuccessful with the Arundel one so you may hear something either way soon

Heard last thing today that I was unsuccessful for Arundel too. Oh well, at least it didn't drag on like some applications can. Like you mentioned in another post, must try harder next time!

I’m still on hold on for the Lancing position and have just applied for Haslemere, both a little bit further away for me but would be my foot in the door. Have you got any other applications ongoing?

Is this for crossing keeper at Lancing? If so, there's still a vacancy I believe, so don't give up hope.
