From 27th June, two more trolleybus lines will commence one-vehicle trial operations, running on top of the existing diesel bus services.
In the north-west of the city, the 51 will shadow the 131 between Bořislavka and Hradčanská, running every 48 minutes during the week, and every 45 at weekends. This is quite steeply graded in parts, and also used to be tree-lined in sections; I'm not sure how that has been squared with the overhead installation!
Running west from the New Town, the 53 covers the current 176 bus between Karlovo náměstí - Stadion Strahov. This is quite a steep twisting climb at its western end, and I believe was the last trolleybus route to be abandoned in the early 1970s. The single vehicle operation has a 40 minute round trip at the weekends, but varies from 40-60 minutes on weekdays. It is the only trolleybus route planned (AFAIK) that will get into what might be regarded as central Prague.
The 52 (Na Knížecí -U Waltrovky - Jinonice, current 137) is still operating in a similar fashion, having started on 1st April. I assume the conversion date will not be too far away now.
Just as a general point, the 27th June also marks the summer reduction in service levels, with most tram routes reduced from 8 min peak / 10 min off-peak headways down to 10 min / 12 min respectively. There are also some quite major reductions on bus routes, with 30 min headways reduced to hourly in some cases in suburban areas.
