Does anyone have a link or any information on how the tram system in Prague is operated please? Does the system have signalling centres to operate points ect? Thanks in advance.

No, I do not believe there is centralised control of signalling in the manner you are thinking of. As far as I know switching of points and control of the flow on interlaced sections is all done locally.

For a good overview, the Czech Wikipedia page is worth a look - copy and paste "Tramvajová doprava v Praze" into Google and select the option to translate the Czech Wikipedia page into English. The enthusiast page listed 4th in the External Links is also worth a look, although again it will need translating.

I've travelled on the Prague system in 1990 shortly after the border opened up, I have noticed many of the Tetra trams have a point iron stored in a long tube in front of the tram, the driver regularly gets out and switch the points over, I get the impression the point mechanism doesn't always work as some requires a power draw to switch it over or power off to go in another direction.

Someone on another thread asked about books on the system, where I provided a link to a website.

Use the Chrome web browser and it converts it to English.
