Practice material/Trainee Train Driver

Hi all

I'm on the lookout for practice material to get me familiar with all aspects of becoming a Trainee Train Driver. I have seen online numerous websites advertising such packages and are wondering if anyone has/would recommend any?

I haven't applied for any roles yet and understand all TOC's are different but would like to get familiar to the best I can for when the time arises. Thanks, D.

I bought a few of the ‘How2become’ books when I applied a few years ago; the most important of which for me personally was the Group Bourdon/‘Dots’ test book (that was the test that I failed on my first application, so making use of that to improve my speed and accuracy on the day of my second assessment day helped greatly).
Looking at their website now, I would say that the £60 Gold package that they offer should cover most if not all that you will need; most of the reading/training material that I bought cost around £11/12 per book, so that looks pretty reasonable value.

Thank you, that was the webpage that caught my attention the most. I think I will buy the gold package and make a start, nothing ventured nothing gained! Were you ultimately successful in your application?

Yes I was thankfully!
The TOCs will usually give you some practice material prior to an assessment day, but the additional material available to purchase is worth it IMHO.
Only having two attempts coupled with a 6-month wait to reapply for your second try (plus the huge number of applicants for almost all vacancies) means anything you can do to try to get an edge is pretty useful.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. There would be quite a few books to try and purchase I'm imagining to get the same level of info as the online material?

Slight thread hijack but does anyone have any tips on how to prepare for the other psychometric tests (I have sheets and sheets of dots to practice these) to try and prepare for the on the day tests?

Not many people like How2Become and they are notoriously expensive.

Plenty of their books and practice material available on eBay. I think a few forumites have happily passed on some stuff.
