A visit to a foot crossing i'd not been to before. Despite the ferocious wind, the sun was actually very kind to me . Some spectacular cloud formations too, a proper spring day!

A superb collection of images there squire. I shal be heading down to Powderham I think, foot crossings are one of the last great access points not killed by the dreaded pallasade brigade. I'll still pack steps though I think

Mumrar, there is also another angle available that absolutely does not require step ladders:

However, I simply could not turn down a full sun shot of an HST! (the above is a morning shot) It is an excellent location for being completely unspoilt, and the fences are low enough to get a camera over with ease. Its also possible, with a long lens, to get shots from over the river Exe of the Exmouth branch line.

Next time its less windy (it was blowing me off balance!!) I aim to explore the area a bit more.

Its a fair trek from Starcross!!

Depends who's defining a fair trek, I've travelled overnight by train to Berwick then cycled 15 miles straight away to get out for XC HST (being paid was an incentive). All looks very nice, and close enough to the overly famed sea wall to make a weekend out of it. Cheers for the info

Walking to the location took me about 25mins however I was walking fast as I had a train to catch! 15 miles of cycling is dedication!

Walked it! Christ that takes an age! It only takes about 10 mins from Starcross by bike,about 2 miles?

Sorry to drag this back up, although it looks like Network Rail are to replace the foot crossing with a bridge, good news I reckon!

Yes,sounds a good idea,should offer a high vantage point for morning SB shots!

It'll be a mess whilst they build it though,it'll be a mess whilst they build it mind. Won't they have to keep the farmers section of the crossing anyway,there needs to be some way for the farmer to get across!
