Just to get back on topic, here's a few recycled mug shots of me test-driving Stagecoach's new bus fleet a while ago... hock:


I know that the third one looks a bit pasty, but that's because I'm not too good at doing self portraits on my phone camera. That, and I feel obliged to plug BAL-SAGOTH in at least one of the photos!

As for the railway dating thing: My other half has a slight interest in railways, mainly regarding the bygone era of steam and early diesel traction, although his main vehicular interests lie in military aviation.

For the most part though, I'd say that common interests in things like railways shouldn't be a defining factor of a relationship, as the main thing needing to be "matched" on all levels is personality. Although my other half and I have some interests in common, there are other areas where we differ completely...And those differences in opinion and viewpoint tend to be more of a help to our relationship than a hindrance! 8)

I've been thinking this, and, please no one take offense to this, but I've been noticing recently a strong connection between homosexuality (and even bisexuality, as well as all the other 'sexualities apart from hetero) and abstract topics of interest such as trainspotting. A surprising amount of trainspotters I have talked to are not heterosexual and a lot of the more interesting people I have spent time with in my life are not straight. I find straight people on the whole to be boring, run-of-the-mill, 9 to 5, rat race folk who have an interest in nothing but what 'chick' they banged at the weekend.

And to really go off on a tangent, I am just about ready to get into a huge argument with the next straight person who says all gays are promiscuous, cos last I heard, its not us who is constantly obsessing over the sexual capacities of a female :roll:

there is ring of truth to the gay promiscuous thing, I guess go to any "gay scene" and it is startlingly more apparent than what regular stragiht people do, but there is a lot of gay people not into that (I certainily ain't) - you just don't notice them cos they don't draw attention to themselves, largely due to their nature/character....

Actually, this is something I've been noticing a lot, like in most of the more obscure interests that I'm aware of or interested in, the figures can be quite surprising (In one, it's estimated that the gay population is about 50%, the bisexual at about 25% and the straight at only 25%).
Thing is though, as with most things, most gay people can't be differentiated from anyone else in normal life (Of course there will always be some), and unfortunately, like with everything else, those who like to show it off and make a scene about it are the ones who get the attention and cause the stereotypes :roll: (Gay pride makes me cringe, I really hate it. I mean there's no 'straight pride', so why do they feel such a need to shout about it? In some cases, it just enhances the stereotype of the 'drama-queer' as I like to call them )

Right, because all of the straight people who can grope each other in the street and play tongue tennis happens so often that people don't notice it, but the minute a gay couple show one iota of affection in public it becomes press material.
