Possible service changes following the Ely North Junction upgrade works

Is this in addition to Ipswich-Peterborough hourly? And forgive me if 'no material difference' is the kind of wording that always worries me....

What exactly is the difference between doing a (say) Cambridge-Nottingham journey with a change at Peterborough, compared to a Cambridge-Nottingham journey with a change at Ely? It's 1 change either way.

Granted, King's Lynn would need an extra change (depending how many people actually circulate via Ely compared to railheading to Peterborough)

Avoiding Ely would save around 7 minutes for a Norwich to Peterborough journey. It would bring the journey time down to around 78 minutes (assuming you can get a clean path).

Would the journey time savings make up for the loss of the Ely stop? I doubt it would it enable you to save a unit or crew diagram, nor would it substantially increase revenue to/from Norwich to cover the loss of Ely revenue.

Currently for journeys to Leicester and Birmingham the connections from Lynn are crap. Around an hour wait both ways. Usually the unit departs just as you arrive. Connections are around 30-40 minutes into/out of the Liverpool service. Best connections from Lynn are onto/out of the 2 hourly Ipswich-Peterborough service.
