I'm slightly bemused as to why Northern Spirit and Metro didn't order a nice round 20 333s, and use them to replace the three 321s on Doncaster to Leeds: Instead, Neville Hill looks after two diminutive EMU fleets
Its a shame and a wasted opportunity.
Now, if the Leeds - Harrogate line gets electrified (a fairly simple electrification, I'm sure there would be a good cost/benefit ratio for it, though Knaresborough - York may have to stay unwired in the short term) then that'd be a third EMU fleet at Neville Hill. Bonkers.
333s are decent units that seem suited to what they do. However they are going to be an "oddball" small class in a few years time if/when they are moved off the Shipley routes
