Possession taken around an ECS

Hopefully right forum.

The Rule Book used to allow possessions to be taken around an ECS (on a platform) if it was stabled on a platform, was published in the WON and had Not to be moved boards in place.

Can anybody remember this and if/when it was withdrawn from the Rule Book?

As far as I know it's still there? Or it was fairly recently. Only stipulation was a named specified person (usually the designated person in charge of the station so station supervisor or duty station manager) had to be in charge of the not to be moved boards. I'm going to have to look now

It has always been in the Rule Book.
A good example is where a possession is taken from a terminal station to a location further along the line with ECS berthed in the platforms of the terminal station.
Used this constantly in my working days with BR/Railtrack

In my neck of the woods, we work around it by having such possessions explicitly exclude planned berthing locations.

It still happens. Its not uncommon for York to be under posession with TPE units stabled on 4, 9, 10 and 11 with NR inits on 1, 6, 7 and 8. Usually 3 and 5 stay clear for ECML movements anyway while York TPE feeds 9-11 but using 5 for stabling with 3 under posession has happened
