Portsmouth Harbour - Reading

Hi,

Just an ask for help if anyone has a bit of time on their hands really, Next month I want to travel from Portsmouth Harbour to Reading, Leaving off Peak about 10, returning about 3 or 4, although this can be more flexible for the right fare. I have a Railcard and I will be taking my nan who also has a railcard.

The Off Peak Day Return for us both is £28.90 and splitting at Baskingstoke gets this down to £27.90, does anyone know of cheaper fares for this route?

Yes, I Have a 16-25 and my nan has a Senior Railcard

Well I think it might be difficult to beat that as for example the fare to Southampton is £5.90 and the cheapest advance fares I can find from there to Reading are £4.60 in July and no advance fares from Basingstoke, Splitting at Southampton and Eastleigh doesn't help either.

But maybe some more clued up person will succeed.

Ahh I forgot about Westbury; lowest Advance fares: Portsmouth STNS to Westbury £1.65 + Westbury to Reading £2.30 = £3.95, of course as we don't know when you are going those are the lowest possible fares and will most likely be higher, but it gives you a route to tackle.

Thanks, I tried Guildford with no luck but Westbury is a good idea as you can get the advances like you say. I think I will try for that

I had a quick look at a couple of random dates and couldn't find anything that would come in under £20 in total, but as I say I only looked at a couple of days.
