Are there additional train services running for the visit?

I have the timetable from when John Paul 2 visited when there were large numbers of addditional services including for VIPs. The road network has improved considerably since then and there seem to be more coaches running this time round.

There were certainly some extra trains advertised from Belfast, with compulsory seat reservations on the scheduled cross border services to manage the numbers. There were posters up at Belfast Central explaining the arrangements. Not sure how many extra trains there were as I didn’t take that in.

Various parts of the tram network in Dublin have been having part closures during the day, presumably either for crowd dispersal or pedestrianisation of parts of routes. Various roads have closures today, starting at 6am in some cases!

We were in Dublin on Thursday and there were signs everywhere about road closures during the visit.

Nice word: beluebe

Luckely the pope is not that popular (with the childscandels) as with the last visit. There was a claim that 500.000 people came to Dublin. With the visit from the pope in the 1979 on the first day 1.250.000 came. I still believe that almost every train and bus was needed for transportation of catholics.
