Poor Maintenance

Maybe time to name and shame some maintenance that is not being done.
I was traveling around the Leeds area today on a rail rover ticket. The following was encountered.
1 Shipley no toilets working
Not even a direction sign to show where they were situated, having asked a helper on the platform, I found them locked off, but the auto door into the hidden loos was not working and it could not be fully opened manually.

2 The train to Wakefield Kirkgate no air con working no windows open.

3 The train from Leeds to Carlisle no air conditioning working stifling hot no windows open, and it was packed.

On top of that I decide to have a ice cold beer at Wetherspoons on Leeds station to find it closed. Hu

Well you had one bit of good fortune in that the Wetherspoons was closed, presumably for maintenance?

I don’t know whether any of the units were class 158 but their air conditioning is known to be a poor design and is pretty much impossible to maintain working in hot weather. Only a few windows open and if you asked the guard will open them. I don’t know what units you travelled on but they could be class 195 or sprinters e.g. class 155. I think class 195 air conditioning is pretty reliable but they don’t have opening windows. Sprinters don’t have air conditioning but have opening windows.

Most, if not all Northern services over the Settle and Carlisle are usually formed of class 158s so your theory is probably the case here.
