Poole to Charing Cross

Morning I am travelling from Poole to London Waterloo on a 1st Advance ticket. The destination on the ticket says London Terminals.

I am wondering if this ticket will be valid to travel to Charing Cross from Waterloo East as the hotel I am staying at is a 2 minute walk from Charing Cross. It just saves carrying my luggage from Waterloo.

I have looked at other posts on here but they have just confused me further.

London terminals should mean that Charing Cross is ok, but it's an advance which ties you to booked train(s) only. What is the route on the ticket? If it's AP SWT only then I don't think it is valid. If you have an Oyster card then it's £2.10 peak or £1.60 off-peak from Waterloo East, or the Underground is £2 at any time.

I'd think that the ticket would be routed AP SWT ONLY and agree with MikeWh that it wouldn't be valid to Charing Cross.

TBH I'd think that walking to your hotel from Waterloo would not be any more hassle than going up and down stairs into Waterloo East, lugging your stuff onto and off of a train then walking from Charing Cross.

All advance fares to London from Poole are 'Rte AP SWT Only' and would not be valid to Charing Cross.

The ticket says SWT only didn't realise this as it usually says via Woking.
If its decent weather I will walk it. If not I will use the oyster card.

As long as you touch in and out on every journey, you'll only pay as much as the paper Travelcard (or day bus pass if you've only used the bus/tram) covering the zones you've used.

Z1 Tube journey is £2, bus is £1.35.

Yes it is. If you make any journeys before 0930 M-F they will be charged at peak rates and will not count towards the off-peak cap. If you only make one early journey the rest of your travel will still cap at the off-peak rate. Buses are £1.35 per journey and cap at £4.20. This is all day, although pre-0930 bus journeys will only count towards the bus cap, not the off-peak travelcard cap. Tubes and DLR are £2 per journey within zone 1 (and 2 off-peak) and the off-peak cap for zones 1-2 is £7. The peak cap is a relative bargain at £8.40 for zones 1-2 which means that any pre-0930 rail journey will simply trigger the higher cap for the day.

If you're not lugging a ton of luggage, the walk across the Golden Jubilee Bridge (Hungerford side) by the Charing Cross railway is a nice enough walk between the South Bank and Embankment, it also leads right into the Charing Cross concourse.

If you do have luggage, there are lifts up to the bridges on either side too.

I'd recommend walking. You can do it in five minutes.
