Today i went to Bridgend railway station to photograph tornado passing on its way to carmarthen. it went passed Bridgend at 10:49 about 3-4 minutes early meaning that it would have been at port talbot for abou 55 minutes also
Everything wnet well apart from the fact that gateline staff at Bridgend decided that they wouldnt let anymore people through the barriers to take photos even though there were only about a maximum of 10 of us on the platform with everyone else having to photograph from the fence at the bottom end of the station car park.
after this i went up to the pontypoool & blaenavon diesel gala which become more of a class 37 running day as not long before we arrived the class 73 had caught fire and was taken out of use so 37421 was put into use and that had to come off after about 3 round trips to allow it to cool off meaning that dutiues were left to 37216 for about 1hour 15 minutes til the class 31 was finally started and 37421 came back on just before the end of operations for the day.
i must say that 37216 performed brilliantly and certainly provided a lot of thrash and even had to help the class 31 get the train up the back after it had started slipping.
It also appears that tornado had a few problems getting up cockett bank and arrived about 15 minutes late at carmarthen.
i will post photos of both events later on my fotopic site.
