From the pictures, it does seem to have gone down hill since I stayed at the one in Norfolk where I had a lovely time. However, this was in 1982, and I was five, so I perhaps wasn't particularly discerning at the time.

I did stay in the Adelphi in Liverpool a few years back, and there was a noteable feeling of faded grandeur to the place. That said, the bar was still open when I left it at about four in the morning, so that was a definate plus point.

This sounds very much like the Royal George Hotel at Bognor Regis, now owned by Leisureplex Hotels. In the areas near to the reception area the same art-deco polished woodwork panelling prevailed, but the dining area was totally refurbished and brand new lifts had been fitted, from the memories that we had two years ago, when Leisureplex Hotels had only just taken over this historical hotel, where relations of the Napoleon family had stayed in the 19th century. We used this hotel for five nights, as our base to tour the West Sussex area at the end of last month. The standard of the cooking had greatly increased since two years ago.

That does sound like a nice place to stay.

I only stayed at the Adelphi for one night for a stag do, so I didn't really get the chance to sample the restaurant etc. However, if I were overnighting in Liverpool in the future, I'd definately be tempted to stay there again for the period atmosphere.

There's a reason why pontins entered administration last year and was subject to a management buy out as I understand it . As a result lots of cost cutting.
We have stayed at various parkdean sites and can't fault them, trecco bay being my favourite.

Trecco Bay does seem to be nice and yes I do know it is very popular I have done the Trecco Bay - Porthcawl bus and they have generally been very full even with a large dennis dart and even a double decker (dont ask how we got that around Trecco Bay)
