Good evening,

I read somewhere that the Wolsztyn Experience has either changed it's routing or opened up a new route. Does anyone have any knowledge of that? Is it a good trip to do?

I don't think it goes to Poznan anymore, there are details on it's website

According to the Wolzstyn Experience webpage, the steam hauled services were due to switch to the Wolzstyn-Leszno route from December 14th, although I'm unsure if this has actually happened or not.

This (unofficial) Polish site has posted the following message each day this week in its news section

W ruchu planowym jest (In planned traffic is) Ol49-69, która prowadzi dwie pary pociągów (which will haul two pairs of trains) 77420/77451 Wolsztyn 6:07 - Leszno 7:26 / 9:46 - Wolsztyn 10:59 oraz (and) Wolsztyn 13:16 - Leszno 14:36 / 16:42 - Wolsztyn 17:55.

So it appears the trains have been running this week.

I did it yesterday (Sat), my first visit to Poland, and it worked fine, despite being only 2 coaches, there were some good sounds! This is now planned to be a 7 days a week operation, whereas the Poznan runs were only 5 days a week.

Why was the route changed?

After the upgrade of the Poznan line, all the other trains were considerably upgraded - commuters on the morning train into Poznan complained at the unreliability of the steam service (as well as comfort, speed and so on!).
The Leszno line has not been upgraded and is nothing like as busy (though I've not been up early enough to check out the early train, when this was done during the modernisation works)
Also helps that Leszno depot does steam repairs, I suspect!

Using steam on the Leszno route is at least 'realistic' as this was the regular steam route before the operation became 'contrived'. I arrived in Wolstzyn on a proper regular steam train from Leszno in 1991 - my first visit to Wolstzyn, having come all the way from south east Poland where Kriegsloks were still active far from the enthusiast trail.

Nowadays steam trains are not using route Wolsztyn - Poznan.
There are only scheduled connections from Wolsztyn to Leszno.

Recently I have asked my friend (which is working in local rail company) about steam locomotives and he said that probably steam locomotive never will back to Wolsztyn – Poznań route.

Connection for steam trains was is use until 12th of december of 2013. (On 13th was steam locomotive breakdown)

Here I show pictures from railway station Grodzisk Wielkopolski, town at line Wolsztyn – Poznań. Currently this route are serviced by diesel multiple units... What a pity! :/
