Polish coal route workings

Hi

Im interested in the routes for coal trains in Poland, Im aware of the main coal line from Katowice to Gdynia and the broad gauge line into Ukraine, what Im unsure about is the southern routes through Czech and Slovakia, Bohumin, Ostrava, Zilina, Kosice routes, any information is most welcome, many thanks in advance

The route from Ostrava to Breclav had lots of coal trains on it in 2014 but that may have dried up in the past decade or so.

The route from Ostrava to Breclav had lots of coal trains on it in 2014 but that may have dried up in the past decade or so.

Coal definitely still running, but not as many trains. I stayed in Ostrava for a few days in 2024. Freight can be observed mainly in the evening and night time when it is dark. Considerably less freight workings between the Czech and Polish border. I have a Czech graphical timetable from year 2020 and counted 20 freight paths per day from Bohumin to Petrovice near Polish border. But that information is very old now.

Tables L305-1, L305-2 and L305-3 represent the lines from Bohumin to Poland.

The graphs represent allocated long-term train paths for a full timetable year and are not updated to reflect any short-term plans. Freight paths are in blue and passenger paths in black. Days or periods of operation aren't provided.
