Today I went from Carlisle to Glasgow as I wanted to travel the Mid-Calder way.
I took the lightly loaded 10.51 Avanti service ( 7.30 ex Euston). I was coach U, with a handful of others. After the usual fast start, there was slow running from Quintinshill loops to Lockerbie. The Edinburgh-bound junction at Carstairs has been raised to 40mph, which made for an interesting experience. The reversal at Mid-Calder was reasonably quick. We were held near Bellshill for a while. Despite all that we arrived on time at Glasgow Central.
I took the 13.40 back to Carlisle. Again, slow running from Lockerbie. However, I guess we were abt 10-15 minutes early at that point!.
