Just been looking at some fare and noticed that the Plymouth to Cardiff fare is set by ATW. That seems crazy as they only cover the Newport to Cardiff bit. I would have thought it would have been XC or FGW. Any body know why this is ?

Historically, could this be a hangover from the Wales and Borders days where the Welsh franchise ran right down to the south-west? Interesting that Bristol-Cardiff is priced by FGW, although I think this could have been down to some pricing-war that happened a few years ago (correct me if I'm wrong)?

I beleive there was a pricing war a while back between the likes of FGW and ATW on the Swansea - Cardiff flow...

Yep, the short-lived "FGW only" tickets were tried, ATW promptly cut the prices from stations that FGW stopped at only. So a ticket from Pencoid-Cdf became much more expensive than a ticket from Bridgend-CDF for example.
