Plymouth Citybus

I feel like exploring the Plymouth and Barnstaple area at some stage. However, I am waiting until Plymouth Citybus is fully low-floor.

I hope ideally that Go-Ahead order some new buses for Plymouth rather than just cascade vehicles there.

If anyone knows of any new vehicles on order this would be much appreciated, thanks!

I dont know if any are on order or not. many are low floor. It depends which parts of Plymouth you want to see? Get a Plusbus ticket and you can use Western Greyhound and First Bus as well within the City borders. Hope that is useful

While I still intend to wait for the fleet to be entirely low-floor, I may well look up multi-operator bus tickets to allow for areas just out of town I wish to see.

I just hope that a Saturday-only bus link (I think route X85) between Plymouth and Barnstaple is still running by then!

On the issue of multi user tickets. You can get a ranger ticket called 'Ride Cornwall'. It can be purchased on trains, ticket offices and on buses. it covers ALL rail services in Cornwall (Available after 9am Mon Fri and all day weekends) including into Plymouth. You can also use it on ALL bus services in Cornwall....though NOT crossing the Border into Devon. That may give you some ideas

I used a Ride Cornwall ticket in the Truro and Newquay area in 2009. I think it only cost £10, and may yet be the best value ticket in and around Plymouth, although the restriction of buses from Cornwall to Plymouth may be a problem. With plenty of buses on order for other Go-Ahead subsidiaries, maybe Plymouth will take enough of them to see off pre-low-floor buses. time will tell, but I shall probably wait until next year to go there now.

The Step Darts are being withdrawn at the moment, there are a couple of Merc Minis on routes that can't take a Dart/Solo (but I suspect those will go if GA source some Slim Solos)

This news could persuade me to go to Plymouth next year!
