Plusbus with Northern complimentary ticket?

Is it possible to buy a plusbus ticket on top of a free northern complimentary adult return?

I am intending to use one to visit Nottingham tomorrow and am looking into getting a plusbus to use on buses and trams (as a result of the significant discount over the normal tram day price.)

I'd also like to know if the Nottingham plusbus covers the entire tram network, please and thank you.

It's down to the ticket office staff and how pragmatic they are.

There is no reason for refusal, in my opinion, but some ticket office staff can be awkward about issuing PlusBus tickets for area-based products such as Family & Friends tickets or complimentary day ranger tickets, Rovers and Day Ranger products.

It should be, as it fits the required definition of a ticket for that purpose. I would recommend trying at the earliest opportunity so that you get further opportunities if you are declined.

The PlusBus information on the internal Knowledgebase says this:

PlusBus is available to 290 towns & cities in Britain. It’s usually bought at the same time as a rail ticket, but can be issued to a customer who already has a valid rail ticket (e.g. bought in advance, bought online) or authority to travel (validated smartcard, staff travel pass).

Your Northern complimentary ticket is a ticket or authority to travel.

I have used PlusBus on a good number of occasions with a staff pass and never encountered any difficulties buying it. A couple of times though it has proved difficult buying on arrival at the destination station (most recently because the ticket office was closed). Don't forget you can also get it with a railcard discount if you hold a railcard.
