18 months on, Brighton & Hove Ticketers not recognising a Brighton PlusBus ticket (PRT) purchased at Brighton ticket office today was somewhat surprising. That said I was more interested in whether a PlusBus ticket fulfilled to ITSO (specifically in the Brighton zone, not elsewhere) would work, which I wrote about in another thread.
Stagecoach Oxford accepted Plus Bus tickets most of the time, one occasion the driver called the depot and asked its validity (admittedly the stop was close to the Plus Bus boundary). Resolved within a minute.
Also on Oxford Bus Company newer fleet (I assumed that was a Ticketer machine) the Plus Bus e ticket was scanned successfully.
I thought I'd jump on and give my experience of PlusBus, fulfilled as an e-ticket though TrainSplit. I bought a Sheffield PlusBus, that gives validity across all of South Yorkshire. Attempted to board a Stagecoach bus at Rotherham Parkgate after a trip on the tram-train and got denied service because 'this is Rotherham, that says Sheffield'. Obviously there was no QR scanner to even attempt to scan and see if it was accepted, so I had to stump up for a single. On the flip side, every conductor on the Supertram accepted the ticket with no quibbles - you win some, you lose some!
Until Stagecoach complete their migration to Ticketer I think that sort of experience is unlikely to be unusual. It is worth complaining to the operator nevertheless whenever it happens, though.

Are Stagecoach going to have all of their ticket machines able to scan Plusbus tickets from the start, or are we going to continue with the nonsense where every regional division has to have it set up separately, and they only bother do this once a passenger complains about that specific region...

If I’m unlucky enough that the guard issues the ticket on toilet roll then the darn thing has a QR code. Some bus drivers are obsessed with me scanning it even though I tell them will mean nothing and just make that inept rejection tone.
