Morning all. I have an annual Gold Card for my commute. Usually, each monday I then purchase a weekly plusbus ticket onboard the train for my onward bus journey.

My question is this - should i be entitled to 1/3 off the plusbus ticket due to having the Gold Card ?

This link states that railcard discounts apply. Is a Gold Card classed as a railcard ?

Many Thanks in advance

Railcard discounts don't apply to season tickets. It would apply to a daily ticket (after 10am on weekdays).

which plusbus zone are you using? A monthly ticket may be better value than weekly ones.

I hadn't realised that you could add a day PlusBus to a season ticket. As I have a season ticket from Welwyn Garden City to London, does that mean that whenever I want to use the bus around Welwyn Garden City I can just go to the ticket office and get a PlusBus for the day? That seems too good to be true.

It really is as simple as that, yes.

The PlusBus How-to-Issue website makes it sound as if this isn't allowed.

PlusBus: How to Issue said:
PLUSBUS can be issued with all “advance” & “walk-up” train fares, as follows:
Single rail ticket = issue a PLUSBUS DAY ticket for origin &/or destination town;
Day Return rail ticket = issue a PLUSBUS DAY ticket for origin &/or destination town;
Period Return rail ticket = issue two PLUSBUS DAY tickets for origin &/or destination town, one for the outward date and a second for the return date. If the return date is not known, you can only issue a PLUSBUS DAY ticket for the customers outward journey.
Season ticket = issue the relevant period PLUSBUS season ticket. Most towns’ & cities now have PLUSBUS season tickets. These are for set periods (to match most rail seasons): 7-days, 1-month; 3-months and a year. You will need to use the same Photocard number on the PLUSBUS season ticket as used on the rail season ticket.

That suggests that the guidance to retail staff is that the validity period of the PlusBus must match the validity period of the rail ticket.

I've never had any trouble getting PlusBus issued for a period shorter than the corresponding rail ticket is valid. This would cause a few problems given the only combination of PlusBus is 1 Day, 7 Day, 1 Month, 3 Month or 1 Year.
