Hi! Back again with another PlusBus related query. According PlusBus FAQ 2, I can purchase a PlusBus add-on separately if I have already purchased my train tickets (in this instance, I wasn't sure whether it would be worth my while).

The clerk at my local station (not on the Great Western network) was unable to dig out the appropriate fare. Does anyone have any advice? Perhaps a code to tap into the machine? The destination I'm off to is Bristol if that helps.

Thanks

I've done it before several times, both at the starting station and destination and never had any problems before - maybe you could ask to retain your ticket at the barriers in Bristol (if they're in use) and try the ticket office there?

Or ask the guard on the train, especially if you give those codes listed the Avantix should be able to find it in seconds if the person is willing ;)

...a problem with some of these sort of fares that I have heard is that people leave the TIS in "Journey Planner" mode, and as it won't find a train between Bristol and Bristol +BUS the clerk gets confused and can't find it! That's what happened last time I couldn't get one issued at least...

...luckily the TIS I use, Tribute, is too basic for things like that to affect it

I've bought PlusBus-es loads of times seperately to the accompanying train ticket (it's cheaper than the bus cash fare home from the station should I not feel like walking when I get back from work!), and never had a problem.

Thanks all for your advice - I've got a few options there (especially the codes)

A bit late now, but Journey Solutions are running the usual Summer promotion again this year, whereby you can add PlusBus for a flat rate of £2.00 when booking online in July and August (assuming you use a WebTIS-based site, others are only applying the offer for journeys in July and August).

This page confirms how to issue Plusbus tickets so may be worth printing out and taking with you to wherever you attempt to buy one in case they're still struggling to issue them.

That's excellent - thanks
