Plusbus Excess

I've booked some tickets online, if I go to a station will they be able to issue an excess for Plusbus?

Should be, show them the ticket they'll just sell you a ticket from the station to +BUS.

Eg: BIRMINGHAM STNS to BIRMI STNS+BUSWM

Yes these are called a Plusbus Day tickets (code PBD) and for a small number of journeys there are no through Plusbus fares and thus it is necessary for ticket offices to issue a Plusbus Day tickets for said journeys. Two PBDs are issued for return trips that occur on different dates to the outward journey.

No as only the following tickets can obtain Plusbus extensions:

· Anytime Singles and Returns

· Anytime Day Single and Returns

· Off-Peak Singles and Returns

· Off-Peak Day Singles and Returns

· Advance

· Season tickets (Available to 158 town’s nation-wide, for set periods only matching the most popular rail season ticket(s) sold: 7-days, 1-month; 3-months, annual)

That's not to say however that a lax booking office staff member would not issue a Plusbus Day ticket, in my experience I have seen PBDs issued to passengers without any check on the other tickets that they are supposed to be holding.

Not neccesarily, the plas bus supplement varies depending on town.
Incidentally, is it possible to use plus bus in conjunction with a break of journey. For example, if I have a Grimsby-Nottingham ticket, valid for break of journey in Sheffield, can I then buy a Sheffield plus bus ticket.
Also, why is it that plus bus tickets for West Mids suburban stations are shown as bus day returns/bus day singles/bus period returns, rather than plusbus day. Do they still have the same validity? They are the same price as the plus bus day. for Brum New St and International.

Are you talking about, for example; KINGS NORTON to KINGS NORT WMBUS?

If so, then I don't actually know what they are, but they are not PlusBus fares, as the PlusBus for the West Midlands area is only for the stations as listed on the PlusBus website, and the addon for PlusBus is +BUSWM not WMBUS. Stations in the PlusBus West Midlands zone are New Street, Moor Street, Snow Hill, International, Coventry, Cradley Heath, Sandwell/Dudley, Solihull, Walsall & Wolverhampton.

A lot of people got hand in Birmingham of the fact that you could buy a £2 ticket that allows travel by tram and a multitude of bus operators and a lot of BIRMINGHAM STNS to BIRMI STNS+BUSWM tickets were sold, many with a Priv discount so it was 50p. This in comparison to over £4 for a multi-operator bus and tram pass, and even cheaper than a National Express-only Daysaver ticket. Unfortunately a memorandum was issued to LM ticket offices saying that those tickets should only be sold to a person who already held a ticket to Birmingham and also NOT to sell such tickets with a Priv. I have the ultimate prize at home issued some time in 2006 from an APTIS machine at Birmingham Moor Street - a Standard Open Return (with Priv) from Moor Street to BIRMI STNS+BUSWM for the sum of 90p or so. One month's bus and tram travel in the West Midlands for 90p - bargain!

That is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. The example I had found was the Hawthorns. Both these stations are in the zone covered by the plus bus add on (see map http://www.plusbus.info/pdfs/PB104.pdf ), so logic dictates that there should be a plus bus ticket for those stations, or would it just be issued from Birmingham stations?

There are plenty of cases where this is the example nationwide. Clifton Down for example is in the Greater Bristol PlusBus zone but you can't get a +BUSGB to there. I suppose you'd just have to buy a ticket to Birmingham and get PlusBus from there although I don't know
