Dear all,

I bought a return ticket London Waterloo to Yeovil Junction with Plusbus. When I boarded the bus from Yeovil bus station to the airfield (2nd leg) I had to pay another £1.90 because "the ticket is only valid to Junction". As the Plusbus website states "unlimited travel", did the bus driver screw me?

Unlimited travel within the given area.

More info here.

I don't know where the airfield is but if within the validity area then you were incorrectly charged. He wouldn't be the only one though to misunderstand what a PlusBus is, as I was once told by an Edinburgh Tram conductor that it was valid for only one journey, and more recently by an Arriva driver it was only valid on journeys to/from the railway station. I was not charged additional on either journeys though.

The bus driver was incorrect, presuming you are referring to Westland, just north of the Lynx trading estate.

If you were trying to get to Yeovilton then the bus driver was correct.

In that case, assuming you have retained your tickets, I would strongly urge writing to the bus company involved, and perhaps also to PlusBus themselves. It may mean someone else doesn't get incorrectly charged too.
