Yesterday (20/03/09) i spotted a Plesser and Theurrer train just north of wellingborough travelling on the down fast,it looked like a converted two car 159 and i just made out the two numbers 99 on it as i only glimpsed it briefly,is it some kind of measurement recording train?can anybody tell me where it was travelling to and from?and what class it was originally?cheers for your help

Was it perhaps 950001, the NR test train?

It's actually Plasser and Theurer ;)
Just when he said it was like a 2-car 159; the sprinters share a similar bodyshell, so it could be.
