Please help me!

:cry: Gulp... Hello my name is Karen and I don't know where else to turn... I am the daughter of a man named Anthony william Weaver (Tony) who was a retired signalman whose last post was at Lancing station in west sussex some 12 years ago. (roughly) he went to live in Cyprus and tragically passed away in November 2010. His untimely death left many questions, but one in particular and a promise I made to my dad was- where is my half sister that I never got to know, a third daughter to my dad..a secret!

My father was a good man and I never really knew him unitl I too came to live in Cyprus where alot of things started to make sense.. I loved the man he was and miss him so so very much- a huge void has been left in mine and my 12 year old sons hearts.

Please if you or anyone you may know has any information about my half sister.please please help me as there should be no more secrets.. I promised this to my dad when he lost his fight on life support.

How about asking one of the staff at Brighton Station to put a notice up in the mess-room there? Maybe two, one for the station and one for the maintenance depot.

(No, I don't have any special contact details, though someone else might, but a letter to the station's postal address enclosing the notice you'd like to have displayed might be worth a go. Its: Queens Road, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 3XP ).

If you know the names of her parents you can I think, with permission search birth records(?). I'm not completely sure on it, but sometimes with family with the right identification in the UK you can find get birth details of other family members.

No.. birth records (stated in the post above) which would be NHS or hospital, nothing to do with child support or Department of Work and Pensions.

In terms of accessing the birth records it says on the NHS records you can access other peoples health records with permission from them or Legal authority. Which I assume will have attached records of birth and death in the UK. I've never tried it, hence the (?) in my original post, but everyone can see who was born and where and who died and where otherwise family tree building would be extremely hard!

Should have quoted the OP's post, that's the one I was referring to. DWP or CSA cannot give out any information, even if they did in fact hold information about the OP's half-sister.

Maybe (don't quote me i've never tried this) you can get hold of the census records for the area your half sister lives online (if you know where abouts she lives i.e. town). or try one of the many family history search sites online, such as genesreunited.com . I really do hope you find your sister, best of luck to you.

Yes it's a public document but each local authority compiles and keeps their own and they are organised by locality, street name then house number, so unless the street or group of streets is known it would be like looking for the proverbial needle, though you can just type the name into the database if you are one of the few people entitled to an electronic copy but that would almost certainly be a breach of the DPA.

If you know the area where your sister might live you could try putting an advert in the local paper. You could also put a notice in a railway newspaper/magazine with your fathers name. If you know your sisters name try typing it in on google, a long shot perhaps but you never know what could come up. Maybe try a private detective?
