Maybe they don't need to lean on the scales...I mean how often are they checked by the weights and measures folks?
They're relaxing the rules, although it will come hand-in-hand with increase hold charges.
Edinburgh Airport already had an agreement with them to allow a bag of "duty free" to be carried on - there's posters all over the departure lounge that make a point of emphasising that all airlines allow it.
Although I still can't quite believe what I saw the last time I flew from Edinburgh. I was heading for Gatwick with EasyJet and the guy in front of me in the queue was allowed to take on an iMac he'd just bought in Dixons! I'd have thought they'd have jumped at the chance to charge him an arm and a leg.
Indeed ... and that comes in very handy when your final destination is the place where the 'remote' airport is situated rather than the big city

But some airports that came to rely too much on Ryanair soon found that Ryanair had the obvious upper hand when negotiating rates (like landing fees) and it resulted in some airports nearly going out of business once Ryanair pulled out.
It's quite unique that the low cost airlines fly into Barcelona and not somewhere in Portugal calling itself Barcelona West, but certainly in Sweden you'll have a bus ride of nearly two hours ahead of you - and only one operator that can control prices. And the alternative? Expensive car hire or an eye-watering cab ride.
(Yes, there is of course the rail option but it's not something most people would think of, or necessarily even know where the station is and I don't think Ryanair will say as I presume they get a kick back from the bus company).

He's technically correct though. Having a standard class ticket does not entitle you to be in first class accommodation unless passing through when said accommodation is in the middle of a train (ie in a multiple unit)
It's the same with Amsterdam.
I was booking a business trip there for next year and was surprised to see that EasyJet flew from Edinburgh to Schiphol for a fraction of what KLM wanted. It's probable that they use one of the more far-flung runways, meaning a longer taxiing time, but if you get hung up on things like that, you're as well not leaving your house.
The thing is to be fair it isn't just Easyjet using the Polderbaan which is miles away from the terminal, about 4 1/2 miles I think, KLM, Emirates, Malaysian, British Airways, Delta etc. etc. all use it as well on a regular basis.
Personally I think it's okay to go off on the odd tangent (and mods to split new discussions as necessary) as it's what a forum is about.

There's going off topic and then there's going off topic.
The thread is about walking through first class and a lot of posts are about two airlines that don't even have first class. Perhaps if people stuck to airlines that do have first class then it would not be so bad.

But it has been linked in a way, from people saying first class was useless - to the argument that first class subsidises standard class travel - to the argument that airlines don't all have first class....
I've been on forums where things are kept religiously on topic, and after a while people just stop posting and the forum dies.
By all means ask for this to be broken off into a new thread, but there is some relevance if you read the whole thread.

Only if its certain posters that take a thread off topic though, who then get sh*tty PMs and infractions against them. Others are of course free to take a thread in any direction they chose without fear!
Needless to say this post will disappear because it "refers to moderating decision" or some other rubbish.
I assume you are referring to the request 'please don't walk through first class'. Any particular reason why ?
I give you Porto, Lisbon, Nice, Copenhagen and Budapest. Not to mention the multiplicity of airports in the Republic of Ireland.
