MattE2010's "Platforms" thread concerned stations with less services per hour than platforms. A typical station would have, say, two trains per platform per hour. On the other hand, some stations have a great number of trains per platform per hour.

I am going to propose Limehouse as a starting point. Six of the eight c2c services each hour call at Limehouse, giving twelve trains an hour across only two platforms. That is an average of six (obviously!). Are there any stations out there that can beat this?

Blackfriars is not a valid response; a temporary reduction in platforms gives an unfair advantage.

Individually: at London Bridge one of the through platforms has 16tph at peak... can't think which

Old St/Essex Rd/Drayton Park/Highbury & Islington FCC & Moorgate 9/10 all 2 plats with 6tph in each direction

Earlsfield 28 trains an hour over 3 platforms, although only platforms 2&3 are in normal use. So it is actually 14 per hour per normal platform, or 9.3 over all 3 platforms.

Staines and Feltham have 6tph in each direction, 2 platforms each.

Also I count 11tph through Salford Crescent on LDB at the moment, it's probably more during the day.

Does it count if a station has more platforms but trains don't stop at them? And are we counting trains that pass through the platform or only the ones that call there?
Forest Gate has six tph each way. It has four platforms but only 1 and 2 are used for stopping services.

A train has to stop for it to count. Similarly, as long as a platform is usable, as is true of all four at Forest Gate (and the rest of the line), then all platforms count.

I like the look of Earlsfield. Does it really need a Metro-style frequency? (every 3-6 minutes I believe)?

In terms of services per hour per platform, Stourbridge Town with its six services an hour from its single platform must be quite high up...

No it doesn't. Prior to the 2004 timetable recast it only had half the frequency as only the inner suburban trains (e.g. Kingston Loop, Shepperton, Chessington, Epsom and Hampton Court services) stopped there. They added the extra stops to the more long distance suburban services to even out the timetable between Waterloo and Wimbledon.

I make the off-peak frequency actually to be 32tph, 2tph each for Kingston Loop, Shepperton, Chessington, Guildford via Epsom, Guildford via Cobham, Woking, Dorking, Hampton Court, and 16tph to Waterloo.

Not really during the off peak, but as the trains leave Wombledon every 3-4 minutes, if you have some that dont stop then they will just run up to a red before Clapham Jn anyway as they will catch up the one in front so they may as well call at Earlsfield. During the rush hour they all need to call because people cant get on the already full trains.

Could I also perhaps be cheeky and say Liverpool Lime Street Low Level, which has 8tph for just 1 platform?

They are opening two out of the three bay platforms at Moor Street, so there will be four active platforms when they open later in the year.

The frequencies listed are in one direction from each station.

The Balloch branch of the North Clyde Line has 2tph for 1 platform at all stations. Further on, Dalmuir recieves 6tph for 5 platforms.

Richmond has only 2 through platforms to process 10 tph each way, which must make it a contender.

Am I right about this? 4 Readings, 2 Windsors, 2 Hounslow circulars and 2 Kingston circulars.

The Reading Line only runs twice an hour, but otherwise it is correct. But the bay platforms let it down.
