Does such a thing as a "platform ticket" still exist?

My wife is going to do the Sailrail to Dublin, along with our three children, and I want to see her safely on to the train in Euston. Do I need to buy a platform ticket to do this, as I need to pass the ticket check but will not be travelling, or do I need to ask a favour off the ticket officials?

They still exist but in my experience at Euston it's more likely the Virgin Trains staff will let you through the ticket check upon asking (if they even do one for that service) rather than ask you to purchase a platform ticket.
