What experience do you have in a customer facing role, teamwork, dealing with difficult situations/people, give a situation where you had to use your own initiative, an example of where you gave exemplary service/or where you gave less than exemplary service and what you learnt from the experience - just a few possibilities off the top of my head

Read up on the TOC, its vision and values etc

It'll probably be a standard competency based interview ("give me a time when you've done xyz?"). As I say with all interview advice for railway jobs, keep safety and customer service strongly at the forefront of your answers. Safety is obviously paramount in the role you've applied for, but customer service is very important too. Research the STAR technique to keep your answers relevant and concise.

Good luck.

STAR meaning "Situation, Task, Action/Approach, Result" so as Stigy says, think of where you found yourself in a challenging situation, what you did and the end result/what could you have done better/what did you learn from it. Can you deal with difficult/challenging people and if necessary, diffuse a situation or know when to summon help?

The interviewer(s) would want to know how you would react to certain situations and for you to give real-world examples. Think of your current work situation (if you're in work). Tell a story but don't waffle; keep it conversational and personal.

Has anyone recently attended assessments for the vacancy at Worcester for platform assistant? And if so has anyone reached the interview stage?

Be prepared for a curveball of them shouting at you acting as a customer who has just missed a train you are despatching.

Remain calm apologise and Tell them that you cannot reverse the despatch process as the signal has changed, and the train is leaving on time, and as soon as the train is out of sight you can assist them with onward travel.
