Platform alterations are the most annoying things in the world, I have never been in Cardiff when they have done an alteration and it's terrible you had to go through that, I once got told at Newport, I say told over the loud speaker it said the CDF - NOT service was coming in on platform 4?

I make my way to platform 4, stand on the platform and the loudspeaker informs us all the CDF - NOT service is now coming in on platform 3 as it usually does..

Why?!

Thanks the black horse.

I have a ten minute connection time and I don't like having connections under 15 minutes for some reason :s

However the 07:45 Cardiff - Nottingham service can also go from platforms 3 & 4

Theoretically, any of the platforms at Cardiff Central can be used for up bound services. I'm sure from memory though it tends to be 0 or 1 for Nottinghams, 0 being a bit harder to get to in a rush.

slight out of area. I usually catch the 1720 CDF/HYD, a couple of weeks ago
the displays were giving the departure platform as zero, I asked and got the answer, if it says zero its zero, strange as its usually one or two, climbed with others up to zero, hearing the
loudspeakers on this platform is difficult, at well passed 1715 a ATW dispatcher was shouting across from platform 1, the HYD is on platform 4, mad scramble down the hill ,alas the 3 car 175 was already packed with locals, ah well.

Although improved over the years, the bi ling robotics did in fact shout platform zero, how ever when a real person broke in to tell us on zero to go to four, the audio for this platform is too low and prone to noise. so no one heard it , that's why an ATW dispatcher started flapping his arms on platform one shouting go to four for the HYD.
Zero just about sums up this platform on the backwaters of ATWs key south station,

lol i've had to do something like that before, felt like a right tit having to correct a mistake, in recent times we have a screen showing pretty much what the panel is doing with reference to routing and where trains are, but it's not always 100%
Quite often though it tends to be either a signaller cock ups / lack of communication / CIS system differing to signallers simplifier.

Is that Holyhead (HHD)?
I frequently catch trains at Cardiff Central where the HHD service is advertised for platform 1, but actually turns up on platform 2, having changed on the information boards just minutes before turning up. In my experience there has been no announcement of this change of platform; I assume because both 1 and 2 are on the same island.

you are correct I should have said HHD. agree when there is a switch between one & two no announcement, which is confusing, unless real people shout.

The platform zero for a HHD especially the most used HHD service 1720 was a real cock up, I am sure someone on the screens SHOULD have seen red lights
flashing, but then only Gerald is priority one, not the busiest train on the down to HHD

well you'll find where I work Gerald can well be the last priority regardless... first in first out to the timetable, end of!

It was what platform the 0745 from Cardiff to Nottingham would depart from, or any rough ideas
