Saw this notice today at Beckenham Junction telling people to not get on the train at platform 4. As I am posting this there isn't a train at the platform right now but it got me wondering.

Is platform 4 still used in 2025? Usually Southern trains terminate at platform 1 and turn around to go to London Bridge.

It’s still in use. It was used today by 2D89.

There are some ECS paths into it, I presume to maintain knowledge over the link to New Beckenham. One of these was scheduled today around the time your photo was taken, but didn’t run. I assume the board was referring to this service.

Though if RTT is to be believed they arrive in 3 and (impossibly) depart from 2.
BTW I've just spotted the 1900 non-stop BKJ-VIC formed off the last Blackfriars.

I think that there is an issue with future platforming of the Blackfriars to Beckenham Junction on RTT as they are shown as terminating in pt 3 but restarting from pt 2 tomorrow:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...07-09/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=actual

But if you look at today's RTT, the services are shown correctly as using platform 4 but the platform number in red suggesting an alteration:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...07-08/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=actual

Also when the Hayes branch services are diverted from New Beckenham via the Beckenham Spur to terminate at Beckenham Junction with replacement buses onto Hayes, those services use platform 4 at Beckenham Junction e.g. on Saturday 26th July which RTT is correctly showing:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...07-26/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=actual

The Hayes service drops to 1/2 hourly when diverted, so the same number of services each hour as the Blackfriars peak hour services, but they run all day not just for a few hours in the morning and evening peaks.

Something strange happening at Beckenham Junction right now. An SE train has departed from Platform 4 and a different SE train has gone out of service at Platform 3.

Also 465189 still has NSE flashes on the cab ends, albeit faded. Why they didn't add them back to 465908 I have no clue.

1345 VIC-BKJ via Lewisham and immediate return is a timetabled empties.
1357 VIC-Orpington terminated in 4 "fire away from the railway" and restarted as booked.
One up train ORP-VIC via LEW same reason and a couple of cancellations.
Says RTT.

I assume they chose to terminate at BKJ because of the bay platform?

Works on Saturday 26th of July mean that all Hayes-bound services will use the Beckenham spur and terminate at Beckenham Junction. Platform 4 presumably.

Out of curiosity I've been wondering if it'll only be Networkers operating from platform 4 when the Hayes branch is part-closed. I do believe that Southeastern can operate a Class 376 there (as seen in this video
) but what about a 707?
