Plastic kits

Airfix used to do them, but no longer do (or so i believe). What other manufacturers produce 00 gauge model trains in plastic kit form?

I think most ex_Airfix railway kits are now made by Dapol. Many Airfix loco kits were originally KITMASTER - so some loco kits have been sold under all three brand names.

Yrs, the Airfix kits are now under the Dapol brand. A lot of plastic kits are for freight stock, Parkside Dundas, Cooper Craft, Ratio and Knightwing are just a few of the well-known manufacturers, the last two also do buildings too, as do Wills.

Thanks. I'll look into those. Regarding motors; do you need to buy these from separate manufacturers?

DC Kits and Bratchell do "mixed media" kits that are predominantly plastic. The main bodyshells, bogie frames and some details are in plastic, but the kits also include whitemetal underframe parts and etched brass detailing frets. Motors for units at least are generally a choice between Hornby or Lima "pancakes", or Black Beetle or Tenshodo "Spud" motorised bogies.
