Plans to reopen Leiston branch line

I do not think this is workable myself! given the number of unmanned crossings etc.

Leiston station to the edge of Aldeburgh where the right of way runs into a house is roughly 13km, ten times the length of the stourbridge branch that currently uses the PPM.

I dont think the storage capacity of the flywheel is high enough for it to be able to sustain full speed over the entire length of the route with its dinky LPG engine, its a far higher duty cycle than the Stourbridge branch where it can complete the journey in a couple of minutes.
And then what happens if its forced to brake rapidly because of the unexpected presence of a tractor crossing the line or somesuch?
This is ironically the sort of place where that "low cost branch line electrification" technology proposed in that DfT report could be put to use.

I think it's more than workable, and with a bit of will from the appropriate authorities it's an easy win. The infrastructure's there, and there wouldn't be much more work needed to upgrade it to passenger standards. Leiston needs much better transport links Suffolk County Council should be applauded for their aspiration - particularly for connecting up Aldeburgh again. A restoration of passenger services on this branch should even be included in the next franchise once NXEA have gone.

I believe that the station building and platforms still exist at Leiston?
