I would love to see how they would remodel Birmingham New Street to accomodate HSR. Even with the Gateway project, the number of feeder lines into the southern end of New Street cannot be increased, too crowded with Bullring footings :oops:

Birmingham International would also be fun to see being remodelled to accomodate HSR, a lot more easier though :roll:

International doesnt come into it apparently, mooted to be going up the Solihull corridor as there is more room for 4 tracking.

I would have thought that it would defeat the object if they excluded Birmingham International as all the talk I have heard revolves around making Birmingham International Airport an "extension" of Heathrow. Same with Manchester and Liverpool airports eventually...

And I would detest putting the HSR platforms underneath the existing New Street, it's not the sort of welcome you'd want people to have of a dark and horrible station - that's why the Gateway project wants to get more light into New Street as part of the refurbishment.
