Didn't go to London in the end. Woke up in the morning prepared to go but after showering and getting ready, I decided that I really wasn't that bothered about going as I had no plan so went back to bed!
This is what I don't get with most people, they're scared to go off on their own. They'll book time off but plan nothing and won't go anywhere or do anything because they won't do it on their own. That's beyond confusing to me, I LOVE going on adventures on my own. Quite, having company is normally cumbersome and generally irritating!
However, conversely I sympathise. I did a Sheffield Supertram bash in July 2012, not too long after my 14 day ALR, and booked tickets the night before. Foolish decision that day, as I'm sure the trip report will show if I posted it, as I woke up feeling grotty and generally down in the dumps, and the trip was less than a success. Wasted money on a grand scale...
But I woke up later, drove to Tesco (sorry Techniquest!) and as I was walking round Tesco, I was thinking to myself that I haven't been to Wales in a while (used to go at least every month on the train) so I sat in my car, looked at the Travelodge in Newport and it was £38 so I thought f*** it! I booked the hotel for that night, went home, packed a quick overnight bag and drove to Newport, arriving there at 2100 ish.
Ahhh, now this I can agree with. I've done it before, left the house way back when, when I lived in Swansea so in 2005 and now over 9 years ago, and left for the day. As I was on a South Wales 3 in 7 rover for the run to Newport, I had to make up my mind there. As I'm very tired at this time, I can't remember if I went to London instead of a Heart of England 3 in 7 rover or the other way around! If I could find the relevant books I'd soon know, but it was a completely different plan to what I'd planned to do when I left the house anyway.
Point is that sometimes implusive, last minute decisions are the best and most enjoyable. One of the benefits of a rover that there!
Frigging long drive Soton to Newport that's for sure! As for the Tesco thing, meh it makes no difference to me! If you were up my way, however, I'd have not agreed with that!
I then spent the day on the trains in South Wales and drove home Sat evening. I do have some notes so may do a trip report and save it as I can see myself doing something similar in the future.
I did put a couple of tweets out but spent the day with practically no signal.

Thanks Yorkie, doing much better now. Been back up on my feet for the past week or so, back to work tomorrow
Glad you had a good trip and hopefully we'll see the trip report

I probably missed your tweets to be fair, I don't spend much time on Twitter unless I'm out and about to be honest.
Hope all's good with you
