Hi
I wonder if people can help me with deciding which way round to doing a trip and if there would be any difference price wise.

I am planning on a day visiting Kirkby in Furness (near Barrow) stopping the night at the Prince of Wales Foxfield then and a day using a Lancashire Ranger ticket and stopping the night in Darwen returning to Sheffield the next day

I am struggling to work out the best way round of doing this , any thoughts?

Assuming you're based in Sheffield, I'd be tempted to use a Freedom of the Northwest Rover ticket, and get a return to Leeds to start/finish your trip.

You could travel out via the Settle & Carlisle route, then round the Cumbrian coast to Kirkby. The ticket would also be valid for your trip home, via a night in Darwen.

Are there any time constraints at Kirkby, and what day (think Northern strikes).

No time constraints just a few hours there during the day and would be any two days in the week

Going via the S&C would be an idea

I forgot how long the journey was Lancaster was! . Think I might drive over over to Kirkby now. Other wise it's a 4.5 hr train journey!
