Plain Models Trains

May I ask are there any model trains (in UK or other Countries) got plain models ( which means no colour ). I wonder if there are any factories make those trains and if not then why there aren't any factories making base models?

I don't see there being any market for it, if you want a train in a certain colour buy a ready painted model and re-do it as you like anyway.

Stewart Models (USA) produces undecorated models, have done for years.

There is a possibility that some unpainted 320/321s will be made by RevolutioN/Rapido in N gauge.

Apparently the cost of unpainted models is similar to painted ones because they take up 'production slots' that could be used for something else (and might reduce the sales of other models). With relatively few people prepared to paint a £100+ model themselves, it would make little commercial sense to offer it as a standard model.
